It’s World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week, 18th to 24th November 2025, a global campaign to raise awareness and understanding of antimicrobial resistance.
Both the NHS and health organisations across the world are trying to reduce the use of antibiotics, especially for health problems that are not serious.
Taking antibiotics when you don’t need them can encourage harmful bacteria that live inside you to become resistant. That means antibiotics may not work when you need them.
